5-1: M4s vs Clydesdale 3s/4s (Friendly)

Hillhead’s senior development squad continued their preparation for season 24/25 with a friendly match against southsiders Clydesdale.

A deliberately challenging pre season fixture list has seen the youngsters face Hillhead’s very own Glaswegticos, the threes in a number of matches as well as Rottenrow and Western 4s. A match against a Dale 3/4s select was a welcome opportunity to hone our attacking skills more than in previous matches.

Fresh from an under 16 victory against the Isle of Man the night before, the boys continued their fine goal scoring form, with the previously goalless McNeil scoring a sensational first quarter hat trick with Sagoo the provider for the first two of the three. A wonderful opening quarter for the youngsters. A fourth goal quickly followed with Sagoo adding to his two assists with a nice finish. Inspired by McNeil’s efforts, Sagoo secured a brace with another accomplished finish to give Hillhead a 5-0 lead.

Despite this scoreline it was far from a one sided match. After a fast start by Hillhead, Clydesdale dominated possession but struggled to break down a stubborn Hillhead rearguard and an inspired goalkeeping performance by Patrick Wallace. On another day the scoreline could have been a lot closer. Nevertheless a confident boosting win for the youngsters.

Thanks to umpires Bal Sagoo, David Gay and two excellent Dale umpires.
