Western Lettings Glasgow Generations Cup - Day 3 Review
Despite the weather, we witnessed a brilliant final day of action at the 2019 Western Lettings Glasgow Generations Cup! The Ladies Elite sides and Men's O35s put on a great display of top-level hockey. This weekend saw seven clubs compete in 42 fixtures, across 5 competitions, scoring 140 goals between them to crown Uddingston Hockey Club the winners of the 2019 Western Lettings Glasgow Generations Cup. Read on for our final review of this year's competition.
Clydesdale Western Ladies won the day with four wins out of four including an impressive 3-1 victory over Western Wildcats and claimed the Ladies trophy. Uddingston were the surprise package of the day and the new coaching team will be delighted with their two wins and a draw on the day.
In the O35s competition, Watsonians took the title back to the East in their first guest appearance in the Generations Cup. Hillhead started the day with a convincing 7-0 victory over Uddingston although the latter were likely still recovering from a club social on Saturday night. Watsonians came out on top in the lunchtime fixture with a 5-3 victory over Perthshire in the second high scoring match up of the day. With the rain coming down hard, Watsonians secured the title with a 3-0 victory over Uddingston.
We were delighted that Harry Dunlop was able to stay and receive the 2019 Western Lettings Glasgow Generations Cup on behalf of Uddingston Hockey Club. We would like to extend our thanks to all athletes, coaches, umpires, volunteers and spectators for coming along and making the event such a massive success and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2020.
