Ladies’ and Men’s prepare for Conference hockey - starting 17th October!

The Scottish Premiership and Regional/Championship Leagues are on hold following the tightening of travel restrictions in Scotland. However, Scottish Hockey have now announced the Conference structure which will replace them temporarily until restrictions ease, allowing for top level hockey to return for the first time since March.

The Conference is currently scheduled to run to December, depending on government guidelines, and there will be no promotion or relegation from these leagues. A review of competitions and government guidelines will take place prior to January, with a suitable format being proposed for the remainder of the normal league season.

As there is no promotion or relegation, there is a strong focus on development of clubs and players. This provides an exciting opportunity for Hillhead and other clubs to develop new playing styles, umpires, coaches, social media, and other outreach programmes to increase the profile of our sport.

The indoor season will not start until January 2021 at the earliest. Due to current Scottish Government guidance, challenges in venue availability, as well as the prospect of the outdoor season potentially running until mid-December.

The rules surrounding spectators remain clear - they are not allowed. We will do our best to capture key moments and report on matches to allow everyone to follow along.
